Nick Vujicic was popularly known as the “Man without arms and limbs”. To know more about Nick, read below about his life and how he incredibly managed to become a great motivational speaker.

Imagine getting through your busy day without hands or legs. Picture your life without the ability to walk, care for your basic needs, or even embrace those you love. Meet Nicholas Vujicic (pronounced VOO-yee-cheech). Without any medical explanation or warning, Nick was born in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia, without arms and legs. Three sonograms failed to reveal complications. And yet, the Vujicic family was destined to cope with both the challenge and blessing of raising a son who refused to allow his physical condition to limit his lifestyle.
Nick says, “If God can use a man without arms and legs to be His hands and feet, then He will certainly use any willing heart!” Nick’s latest foray into radio will expand his platform for inviting men and women all around the world to embrace the liberating hope and message of Jesus Christ.

Nick is now the CEO of the non-government agency that motivates and inspires people called Life Without Limbs. Despite of the physical condition that he has, Nick proves that it is not a hindrance in achieving dreams.

Nick visited the Philippines last May 18-20, 2013, carrying the theme “Unstopabble”. In his motivational talks at the Araneta Coliseum, he encouraged the Filipinos to live the unstoppable dream. In his visit to the Philippines, Nick shared about his dark moments and how he pulled himself and live.

Below are some of the inspirational and motivational words shared by Nick Vujicic in his tour in Manila shared by Jamie Ortega’s blog post at www.manilaconcertscene.tumblr.com.

All of the insights he shared that night were pretty universal- guys and girls of all ages can definitely apply those nuggets of wisdom to their daily lives. Here are some of my favorite lessons from that night:

Steps to fight depression:

“People ask me how to get through depression but I will be giving you some steps tonight on how I overcame from my life, from a life without limbs to a life without limbs”-Nick
a) “Sometimes we focus too much on the things we cannot change rather than change the things we can change. “
b) “Encouragement brings you closer to all that you can be while discouragement takes you away from that. The common word is “courage. People tell me, ‘Wow Nick how do you get so much courage?” So to defeat depression put all your energies on the people who know your worth and who encourage you.
c) Plant seeds of truth and love to the people around you. Live without FEAR! According to Nick FEAR is false evidence appearing real while FAITH is full assurance in the heart.

How to bounce back from failure:

Nick said that some plans in his business didn’t fall through and he was broke. After that, Nick realized that all he should do is take small steps in the right direction will bring him to where he wants to be. “Don’t believe you are a failure, you are beautiful and you are here for a reason. Think of Thomas Edison he tried 10,000 times to make a lightbulb.
a) Have courage even when you are afraid
b) When you fail try again
c) Failure equals education-learn from your mistakes and don’t give up! Keep on trying. If you have to let a dream die let a dream die and don’t let it kill you. If something doesn’t happen for you something better will come around the corner.”
Nick also peppered his talks with anecdotes about his life which I loved. It made the speech sound less preachy. Nick talked about his encounter with a soccer ball at the age of 14 when he made a karate kid kick in the air when the ball was zooming towards him. His only foot got sprained in the process. The experience taught him the 4th lesson in how to bounce back from failure: to be thankful!
d) “We are always running after things that we think will make him happy.” Nick asked the audience the three dearest things in their life right now and ended it by saying that the greatest things in life are not things they are people. Oh, here comes my favorite quote: “If you are not going to be happy married you will never be happy single.”
